SVP GROUP

The St Vincent de Paul Society in England and Wales (SVP) reaches out to over 3,000 individuals daily, providing support to the elderly, lonely, sick, and disadvantaged, whether at home, in hospitals, or in prisons. While we are a Catholic charity, we warmly invite members from all faiths or none who resonate with the Society’s values. Our commitment is to assist those in need, irrespective of their beliefs or backgrounds.

Established in December 1950, the St Aelred’s SVP Conference actively engages in local initiatives to support families and individuals facing hardships, offering both financial aid and the warmth of friendship. There is a significant demand for our help within the community, as many families grapple with financial difficulties and social isolation. Additionally, we are twinned with the Holy Cross SVP Conference in Anapprara, Karamoodu Vellarada, Kerala, India, for whom we raise funds each year.

St Aelred’s SVP is always eager to welcome new members. If you can dedicate an hour or two each week, or even monthly, please reach out to our conference President, Barbara. To become a full member of the SVP, individuals must undergo a safe recruitment process and meet the safeguarding requirements, similar to other parish ministries.
