St Aelred’s late summer Fair will take place on Saturday 6th September from 2-4.30pm. We need lots of bottles – particularly wine and spirits, chocolates for the tombola, Hampers and vouchers. Please bring them to church as soon as possible and we will store them in a cool secure place. Home baking and preserves gratefully received on the day and lots of help.

Our SVPs collect food for the hungry, can you spare a tin a week for this also some toiletries? These can be left in the boxes at the back of our churches. The Lord tells us to feed the hungry, so thank you all for your donations which are sincerely appreciated.

St Aelred’s church flower team would gratefully accept flowers from your garden or bought flowers to be used to decorate the church. Please leave donations at the back of church in the bucket marked Flowers.

St Aelred’s Church is kept clean by a team of volunteers, working in pairs on a rota. We need at least four and, preferably more, volunteers to join the rota and share this important work. Each pair cleans the church, taking 2-3 hours about four times a year. To volunteer or discuss the task without obligation, please contact the Co-ordinator: Harry Harper; email: harperh03@gmail.com; Mobile/Text: 07517 923405.

Joint Parish outing August 14th To celebrate the life and work of Pope Francis and the 10th Anniversary of the publication of his seminal work 'Laudato Si', we will be taking a day trip to the Laudato Si centre at Wardley Hall, Salford. https://laudatosicentre.org.uk/ Coach pickup and drop-off from St Aelred's and St Mary's carparks.  Full programme for adults and children at Laudato Si, stop at Banny's https://bannysbritishkitchen.co.uk/ on the way home for tea. Suggested donation £10. Sign up at the back of church, and further details will follow. All most welcome.

Welcome to St Aelred’s Catholic Church

Welcome from everyone at the parish of St Aelred. Here on our website you can find out more about our church and our parish community. We hope that you can find everything that you need in these pages but if not please do contact us.


Children and families are warmly invited to a special liturgy for children at morning Mass on Sunday’s, during term time. Children from 4 – 8 years may attend the sessions in the parish hall during the first half of mass. Younger children may also join when accompanied by a parent.

Visitors are always most welcome to celebrate mass with us.

 Mass intentions gratefully received using the brown envelopes in both churches. All Mass intentions must be made via the brown envelopes in the narthex and a cash donation placed in them or use the tab on the Dona machine. Please give at least 2 weeks’ notice to facilitate a special day.

Friendship Groups: St Aelred’s Friendship Group meet on the third Wednesday of each month at 1.30pm – 3.30pm all most welcome. St Mary’s Friendship Group meet Monday afternoons from 1.30pm to 3pm with refreshments and good cake! All most welcome.

 American Style Ceilidh - Saturday 5th April 7 . 30pm in St Aelred’s Hall. The next in our popular twice-yearly series. Come and dance to a top-class live band. Sociable and fun. No previous dance experience needed - our expert dance caller will explain everything. This event is open to the public - bring your friends from outside the parish. Tickets £10 / £6 on the door. Tea, coffee & cake in the interval. No licensed bar but you can bring your own drinks if you wish. For more information see Philip Rowe (Sunday organist St Aelred’s 9am).

Sunday Mass Livestream

Saturday 27th September We are joining the Diocesan Pilgrimage to Walsingham. The coach will leave Harrogate at about 6.15am arriving in time for Mass at 12 noon followed by procession along the Holy Mile and Benediction in the Abbey grounds. We will return to Harrogate about 10pm. Packed lunch will be needed, and we are hoping to plan a stop for fish and chips at the seaside on our return journey. Cost is £35 each (including fish and chips). For further details and to secure a place, please email Caroline office.strobert@dioceseofleeds.org.uk by 31st August.

St Mark’s way on the national jubilee pilgrimage of hope: begins on Saturday, 6th September with 8am Mass at Leeds Cathedral. Wall all or part of the way between the Cathedral and the Jubilee Pilgrimage Church of St Austin in Wakefield. See Diocesan website for details of how to sign up.
