Advent Lectio Divina St Aelred and St Mary’s 2025 Tuesdays at 11.45am in St Aelred’s hall 25 th Nov, 2 nd Dec, 9 th Dec, 16 th Dec. You do not have to attend every week, all sessions are ‘stand-alone’. More Here

St Aelred’s annual Christmas Fair will take place on Sunday 30th November following 9am Mass. We need donations of bottles, chocolate and cakes on the day. The annual raffle tickets are on sale this weekend.

Christmas Nativity at St Aelred’s – Would your child like to take part in this year’s nativity at St Aelred’s? All ages welcome and talking and non-talking parts available! The nativity will be carried out during the 9am Mass on Christmas day. St Aelred’s Carol Service will take place on Sunday 7 th December at 4pm . It will be a traditional Carol Service with readings and Carols. A retiring collection will be taken for the SVP and refreshments will be served in the parish hall afterwards.

Welcome to St Aelred’s Catholic Church

Welcome from everyone at the parish of St Aelred. Here on our website you can find out more about our church and our parish community. We hope that you can find everything that you need in these pages but if not please do contact us.


Children and families are warmly invited to a special liturgy for children at morning Mass on Sunday’s, during term time. Children from 4 – 8 years may attend the sessions in the parish hall during the first half of mass. Younger children may also join when accompanied by a parent.

Visitors are always most welcome to celebrate mass with us.

 Mass intentions gratefully received using the brown envelopes in both churches. All Mass intentions must be made via the brown envelopes in the narthex and a cash donation placed in them or use the tab on the Dona machine. Please give at least 2 weeks’ notice to facilitate a special day.

All are welcome to come and join us for fish & chips, mushy peas, coffee/tea, bread & butter and sweets for afters, as well as some good chat. Hall opens 12 noon, luncheon served 12.30pm. £7.00, monies to be paid to Tony or Margaret. Please put your names on the list at the back of St Aelred’s church or phone Tony on 07912790773.
