American Style Ceilidh - Saturday 18th October 7.30pm in St Aelred’s Hall. The next in our popular twice-yearly series. Come and dance to a top class live band. Sociable and fun. No previous dance experience needed - our expert dance caller will explain everything. This event is open to the public - bring your friends from outside the parish. Tickets £12 / £6 on the door. Tea, coffee & cake in the interval. No licensed bar but you can bring your own drinks if you wish. For more information see Philip Rowe (Sunday organist 9am).

The group will be for men of the parish to come together socially and support one another. The group will meet once a season (4 times a year), and there is no cost. If you’re interested, please contact aidan.gillespie@hotmail.com

Calling all bakers we invite you to share your talents. Next weekend October 4th/5th we are having a “Bake and Take” stall after each mass at St Aelred’s. Please bake/bring something to donate and the parish can share and enjoy.

Welcome to St Aelred’s Catholic Church

Welcome from everyone at the parish of St Aelred. Here on our website you can find out more about our church and our parish community. We hope that you can find everything that you need in these pages but if not please do contact us.


Children and families are warmly invited to a special liturgy for children at morning Mass on Sunday’s, during term time. Children from 4 – 8 years may attend the sessions in the parish hall during the first half of mass. Younger children may also join when accompanied by a parent.

Visitors are always most welcome to celebrate mass with us.

Our SVPs collect food for the hungry, can you spare a tin a week for this also some toiletries? These can be left in the boxes at the back of our churches. The Lord tells us to feed the hungry, so thank you all for your donations which are sincerely appreciated.

 Mass intentions gratefully received using the brown envelopes in both churches. All Mass intentions must be made via the brown envelopes in the narthex and a cash donation placed in them or use the tab on the Dona machine. Please give at least 2 weeks’ notice to facilitate a special day.

St Aelred’s PPC warmly invite all parishioners to an open meeting. This will be held in the spirit of synodality. We will spend time in prayer, reflection and sharing. The meeting will be held on Wednesday 22nd October from 7 – 830pm in the parish hall. Please note this is not a business meeting.

Friendship Groups: St Aelred’s Friendship Group meet on the third Wednesday of each month at 1.30pm – 3.30pm all most welcome. St Mary’s Friendship Group meet Monday afternoons from 1.30pm to 3pm with refreshments and good cake! All most welcome.
