First Reconciliation & First Holy Communion

First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion at St Aelred's Church 2025: Enrolment forms for the preparation for these Sacraments are now available for collection and on the website. First Reconciliation is for children in school year 3 or above and the First Reconciliation service will be held on Saturday 15th March at 4.30pm. First Holy Communion preparation is for children in school year 4 or above and the First Holy Communion Service will be held at 9am Mass on Sunday 18th May 2025. Completed enrolment forms should be returned to Deacon David by Sunday 1st December 2024.
Holy Week 2025 Wednesday, 16 April – Mass of Chrism 11.00 Leeds Cathedral – all welcome. Holy Thursday, 17 April – Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper 7pm with watching at the Altar of Repose to 9.15.pm at St Mary’s. Good Friday, 18 April – Celebration of The Lord’s Passion 3pm in both churches with Stations of the Cross at St Aelred’s. Holy Saturday, 19 April – Easter Vigil 7pm at St Aelred’s. Easter Sunday masses as usual.
After the Easter Vigil at St Aelred’s on Saturday, 19th April, 7pm, you are warmly invited into the hall for refreshments as we celebrate Easter and the entry of Connor and Richard into full communion with the Catholic Church.
Fishy Tuesday – 29 April 2025. All are welcome to come and enjoy fish and chips, mushy peas, coffee/tea, bread and butter and sweets for afters, as well as some good chat. Hall opens 12 noon, luncheon served 12.30pm: £6 to be paid to Tony or Margaret. Please put your names on the list at the back of St Aelred

Divine Mercy Sunday – April 27th will be celebrated at St Robert’s Church, Harrogate. 2pm Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and an opportunity to go to confession. 3pm. Pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, followed by Benediction: concluding with veneration of the Holy Image of Jesus.
We have had lots of generous chocolate donations so far and have created some beautiful chocolate hampers – so a big thank you! Krista Gray will be selling raffle tickets for the chocolate raffle this Sunday and next after Mass at St Aelred’s and Anna Dimond at St Mary’s, please contact them if you would like a ticket. Any additional chocolate donations will be gratefully received. Raffle will be drawn on Sunday, 27th April . Many thanks!
Mass intentions gratefully received using the brown envelopes in both churches. All Mass intentions must be made via the brown envelopes in the narthex and a cash donation placed in them or use the tab on the Dona machine. Please give at least 2 weeks’ notice to facilitate a special day.
